Who we are
The WiSe Scheme was launched in Falmouth, UK in the spring of 2003, the culmination of several years planning.
The aim was to bring together experts in the field of marine wildlife research to formulate ways of viewing marine life in our waters without causing them disturbance. This has remained our goal from day one. Sensible and safe activity for wildlife and habitats, that respects nature to educate and inform us all.
Starting with courses for commercial boat operators, WiSe has since expanded to broaden our remit to include adventure activities for kayakers, SUPers, climbers, coasteerers, wild swimmers, anglers and other users of the coastal zone. We have delivered bespoke training for other user groups, e.g. ports, harbours, government agencies and wildlife crime units. Please don't hesitate to contact us about your specific requirements.
In addition, WiSe has created short presentations for public consumption, such as yacht clubs, dive groups etc.
For over twenty years the WiSe core team have worked with regional, national and international partners to develop and deliver the latest evidence based research to the widest possible audience. Thousands of individuals and organisations have attended our courses, benefiting them, their businesses and nature.
